Why Do Florists Need Insurance?

Almost every business should consider public liability insurance. Whether you’re a contractor working on third-party properties or a small business owner dealing with customers, it protects against unexpected claims.
Some key sectors that benefit from public liability insurance include:

  • Tradespeople
  • Freelancers
  • Consultants
  • Couriers

Without liability insurance, even minor incidents, like damaging a client’s property, could lead to costly claims and legal fees, putting your business at financial risk. Protect your livelihood and reputation with the right coverage for your needs.

Protecting Your Flowers, Tools, and Business
From wedding arrangements to daily deliveries, floristry is hands-on, creative work — often done on-site, in shops, or at events. But accidents can happen fast. Without insurance, florists may face:

  • Injury claims from customers visiting your shop or event stand.
  • Damage or theft of your tools, displays, or stock in transit.

  • Legal issues arising from disputes with suppliers or clients.

Keep Blooming Without the Worry
A single claim could lead to compensation costs or force you to replace expensive tools and flowers. Florists insurance helps you handle these risks — so you can focus on making your customers’ days brighter.

Employers’ Liability – A Legal Requirement for Businesses with Staff
If you employ anyone — full-time, part-time, or temporary — you're legally required to have employers’ liability insurance. It covers injuries or illnesses your employees may suffer due to their work.

Public Liability – Essential for Shops, Events & Deliveries
Whether you sell flowers from a shop, set up wedding installations, or deliver arrangements to homes and venues, public liability insurance is vital. It covers claims if someone is injured or property is damaged due to your business activities.

Do Self-Employed Florists Need Insurance?
Yes — even solo florists should consider insurance. If you transport flowers, attend public events, or use specialist tools, public liability, tools & materials, and goods in transit cover provide crucial protection.
